Glass supplier company NSC Group has opened a solar glass production line to support CdTe thin-film PV manufacturer First Solar.
NSG Group has begun production of advanced solar glass at its renovated Ohio facility.
In the plan, a float line at the Pilkington North America, Inc. Rossford, Ohio location, a member of NSG Group, will install online coating capacity and will start shipping TCO glass for solar panel manufacture in the first quarter of calendar year 2025.
Production is expected to begin in 2026, with an annual nameplate capacity of between 5GW and 6GW. The project represents a US$344 million investment. More recently the company signed a supply deal with US chemical producer Genesis Alkali to support the production of solar glass for its Georgia facility.
